Before coming on a business trip to Beijing Olympic Games, I didn't have high expectations for hotels in this core area. I always felt that accommodations near the venues were either overpriced or had outdated facilities. It wasn't until I checked into Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel and stayed for 5 consecutive days that I realized it had blended the comfort of an old school star rated hotel with the comfort of modern accommodation into every easily overlooked detail. When I left, I even felt a bit reluctant to pack my luggage.
Get out of the Olympic Sports Center subway station and walk along the trail filled with white wax trees for 8 minutes to reach the hotel. The autumn sun shines through the leaves on the ground, relieving the exhaustion of the journey for half a minute. Open the door of the hotel. There is no crowded and noisy downtown hotels. The warm and fragrant air is wrapped in the right temperature. When the front desk handed over the room card, it specifically reminded me that the room had fresh air ventilation in advance, so as to avoid the dryness in the north that would make the guests uncomfortable, it also slipped me a small bottle of free moisture spray. This detail just stuck with me living in the south all the year round.
At the moment of opening the guest room door, there was no dry and stuffy feeling commonly seen in northern autumn and winter. The dry wet separation design completely separates the shower area from the washbasin, and the German brand's thermostatic showerhead has dense and stable water output. After a day of browsing or using it all day, the feeling of sourness can be relieved by taking a ten minute hot shower. What surprised me the most was the free high-end hair care set, with a faint chamomile fragrance that completely lacked the pungent sensation of cheap hotels. After washing, my hair wouldn't knot as usual due to the dryness in Beijing. Even the cotton pads used for wiping hands are thick and soft like the styles commonly used at home, not thin paper sheets that break easily with just a pull.
During the few days I stayed, the cleaning lady would quietly sort out the project materials I had laid out on the table in order, fill my thermos with hot water, and see me coughing twice. The next day, she even specially put two extra packets of throat lozenges in my room. Working overtime until late at night and returning to the hotel, the security guard at the entrance would nod and greet me with a smile, confirming that I had safely entered before returning to my post.

They even gave me a note indicating the location of nearby late night snack shops, afraid that I wouldn't be able to find food after watching the concert.

What surprised me the most was the pedestrian circle around me. Living here, I hardly took a long taxi: after the concert ended, I followed the crowd and walked leisurely for 15 minutes to get back to the hotel, without having to squeeze into a half-hour ride hailing service at the entrance of the Bird's Nest; Get up in the morning and walk for 10 minutes to reach the Olympic Park. Run two laps along the trail, and autumn ginkgo trees will cover the entire road; It only takes a 12 minute walk to take photos at the Water Cube, without the need to drive back and forth. I came back hungry in the evening, and there is an old Beijing copper pot braised pork belly just a 5-minute walk downstairs. You don't have to run far to enjoy the hot smoke and fire.
In those days, I didn't have to hurry up at all. In the morning, I ate a bowl of hot soybean milk deep-fried dough sticks in the breakfast restaurant of the hotel with the scenery outside the window. Then I went to the Olympic Park to stroll around the autumn scenery. In the afternoon, I went back to the hotel and collapsed on the sofa to make up for sleep. In the evening, I walked slowly to the venue to watch the performance. After the end, I had a night snack with Pengyoushun Road. On the way back to the hotel, I could still look up and see the stars in Beijing. In the distance, the outline of the Bird's Nest was shining in the sunlight, and the wind carried ginkgo leaves falling on the steps. The most rare thing about coming to Beijing to watch a performance is never being able to see the expensive rooms in the venue at a glance, but being able to walk slowly back to a quiet and comfortable residence without having to wait in the crowd for a bus after the show ends. Next time, I will definitely return to Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel and wait for the lights of the Bird's Nest in the night view of the french window.
